The Itinerary

Days 1-3

Tongabezi Lodge | Livingstone & Victoria Falls (2 Nights)

Zambezi River Introduction

You begin your journey on the banks of the Zambezi River at Tongabezi Lodge, settling into River Cottages that blend privacy with direct river access. This is the entry point into Zambia’s safari circuit, offering immediate access to Victoria Falls and the surrounding adventure landscape.

During your stay, experiences range from guided visits to Victoria Falls and sunset river cruises to cultural excursions and optional adventure activities including white-water rafting, helicopter flights, microlight flights, and Devil’s Pool experiences during seasonal water levels.

Transfers & Flights: You will be met on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) and transferred by road to Tongabezi Lodge. The transfer is short, direct, and sets the tone for a relaxed river-based introduction to Zambia.

Days 3-6

King Lewanika Lodge | Liuwa Plain (3 Nights)

Remote Wilderness in Western Zambia

You transition into one of Africa’s most untouched safari landscapes, Liuwa Plain National Park. This is a remote, conservation-driven wilderness known for its vast open plains and seasonal migrations.

King Lewanika Lodge delivers a highly exclusive safari experience with wide-open plains, dramatic skies, and a strong conservation narrative. Game drives, walking safaris, and cultural interactions form the foundation of the experience, with wildlife viewing centred around the seasonal wildebeest migration and predator recovery story of the park.

Transfers & Flights: You will be transferred by road from Tongabezi Lodge to Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI), where you board a scheduled light aircraft flight to Liuwa Plain Airstrip. On arrival, a King Lewanika Lodge representative will meet you and transfer you into the lodge.

Days 6-10

Royal Zambezi Lodge | Lower Zambezi (4 Nights)

River Safari Excellence

You continue south-east into the Lower Zambezi National Park, a region defined by river systems, floodplains, and high wildlife density along the Zambezi River.

This stage introduces a more dynamic safari rhythm. Game drives operate alongside canoe safaris, boat excursions, and guided walking experiences. The Lower Zambezi is known for large elephant herds, strong predator activity, and close-range river encounters that define the region’s safari identity.

Transfers & Flights: You will be transferred from King Lewanika Lodge to Liuwa Plain Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN). From here, you connect onto a light aircraft flight to Royal Airstrip (RYL). On arrival, a lodge representative will transfer you by road to Royal Zambezi Lodge.

Days 10 - 14

Time + Tide Chinzombo | South Luangwa (4 Nights)

The Valley of the Leopard

You move into South Luangwa National Park, one of Africa’s most important wildlife ecosystems and the birthplace of the walking safari.

Time + Tide Chinzombo is positioned on a dramatic bend of the Luangwa River, offering high comfort in a deeply wild setting. Game drives, walking safaris, and seasonal boating excursions form the core of the experience. This region is particularly strong for leopard sightings, large hippo populations, and high-density predator-prey interactions.

Transfers & Flights: You will be transferred from Royal Zambezi Lodge to Royal Airstrip (RYL), where you board a scheduled flight to Mfuwe Airport (MFU). On arrival, a Chinzombo representative will meet you and transfer you by road into South Luangwa National Park and onward to camp.

Days 14 - 18

The Makokola Retreat | Lake Malawi (4 Nights)

Lakeside Relaxation at Cape Maclear

You transition from safari to lakeside living on the southern shores of Lake Malawi. The Makokola Retreat offers a complete change of pace, combining beachfront relaxation with water-based leisure activities.

This final chapter focuses on rest, water activities, and unstructured time. Guests can enjoy swimming, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, spa treatments, golf, and cultural visits to nearby fishing villages. The environment is relaxed, open, and designed for recovery after safari travel.

Transfers & Flights: You will be transferred from Time + Tide Chinzombo to Mfuwe Airport (MFU), where you board a scheduled flight to Club Makokola Airstrip. On arrival, a Makokola Retreat representative will transfer you by road directly to the lodge on the shores of Lake Malawi.
