During your stay, enjoy the comfort of a Premium Suite on a bed-and-breakfast basis. The property features high-end finishes, an on-site swimming pool, and a gym for relaxation and fitness. Remote Island Wilderness on Lake Malawi
The journey continues eastward into one of Africa’s most unique freshwater island ecosystems, located within Lake Malawi National Park. Mumbo Island delivers a complete contrast to the bush, shifting into a secluded, low-impact island environment defined by crystal-clear water, granite formations, and untouched natural surroundings.
Mumbo Island Camp is an exclusive eco-lodge accommodating a limited number of guests, ensuring privacy and a strong sense of isolation. Chalets are built from natural materials and positioned to maximise lake views, with direct access to beaches, forest trails, and sheltered bays.
The experience is entirely activity-driven and flexible. Guests can snorkel in clear waters, kayak between hidden coves, swim in the lake, or explore walking trails across the island. The environment encourages a self-paced rhythm with no fixed schedule, allowing full immersion into the natural setting. Evenings are characterised by open-air dining and uninterrupted lake soundscapes, reinforcing the island’s remote and restorative character.
Transfers & Flights: Road transfer from Lilongwe to Kayak Africa mainland base, followed by a 45 minute boat transfer into Mumbo Island Camp.
Farewell to Malawi & Zambia
After a final island breakfast, enjoy a boat transfer back to the mainland followed by a scenic drive to Lilongwe. Connect with your international departure flight, carrying with you lasting memories of the diverse landscapes and wildlife of both the bush and the beach.
