The itinerary opens in Livingstone with a direct transfer from the international airport into a relaxed riverside setting positioned along the Zambezi River, offering a soft introduction into Zambia’s safari circuit.
Victoria Falls Waterfront operates as an activity-driven base, combining comfortable accommodation with direct access to one of Africa’s leading adventure destinations. The property is positioned within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, allowing for both leisure and high-energy exploration within a flexible, guest-driven framework.
Experiences are wide-ranging and can be tailored based on preference, including guided visits to Victoria Falls, river cruises, game drives, cultural excursions, and a variety of adrenaline-based activities such as white-water rafting and helicopter flights. The stay balances accessibility with optional depth, allowing guests to calibrate their pace before transitioning into remote safari environments.
Transfers & Flights: Road transfer from Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport into the lodge. Onward transfer back to the airport for scheduled flight into Kafue National Park.
Remote Kafue Wilderness Immersion
The journey transitions into Kafue National Park via a scheduled flight into Chunga Airstrip, followed by a road transfer into one of Zambia’s most remote and underexplored safari regions.
Kaingu Safari Lodge is positioned along the Kafue River and operates as an owner-run eco-lodge with a strong emphasis on sustainability, intimacy, and authentic wilderness engagement. The lodge infrastructure is deliberately low-impact, designed to integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape while maintaining essential comfort standards.
Safari activities are diverse and immersive, combining traditional game drives with river-based experiences such as boat cruises and fishing. Walking safaris form a key component of the product, offering a ground-level perspective of the ecosystem, complemented by cultural interactions with local communities. Wildlife density is varied but rewarding, with strong antelope diversity, predator presence, and exceptional birding.
Transfers & Flights: Flight from Livingstone into Chunga Airstrip followed by road transfer into camp. Departure routing connects via Lusaka into the Lower Zambezi.
Classic Lower Zambezi River Safari
A multi-sector air transfer connects through Lusaka into the Lower Zambezi region, introducing a shift toward a river-focused safari environment with strong wildlife concentrations along the Zambezi corridor.
Baines’ River Camp delivers a classic safari lodge experience positioned directly on the riverbank, with expansive views across into Mana Pools. The camp layout is structured around comfort and accessibility, featuring well-appointed suites and a central lodge area designed for relaxation between activities.
The safari offering combines land and water-based experiences, including game drives, walking safaris, canoeing, fishing, and sunset cruises. The Zambezi River system acts as a consistent wildlife magnet, attracting elephant, hippo, crocodile, and a wide range of birdlife, while predator activity remains present across the surrounding terrain.
Transfers & Flights: Flight from Chunga Airstrip to Lusaka, connecting onward to Royal Airstrip, followed by road transfer into camp. Departure continues via air into South Luangwa.
South Luangwa Walking Safari Experience
The final safari segment connects into South Luangwa via Mfuwe, positioning guests in one of Africa’s most established and wildlife-rich national parks, widely recognised as the birthplace of the walking safari.
Flatdogs Camp offers a flexible and accessible safari product located near the park boundary, providing direct entry into high-density game viewing while maintaining a relaxed and informal lodge environment. Accommodation options are varied, catering to different comfort preferences while retaining a strong connection to the surrounding bush.
The safari programme is guide-led and activity-rich, with a strong emphasis on walking safaris, night drives, and traditional game drives. Wildlife density is consistently high, particularly along the Luangwa River, with frequent sightings of elephant, hippo, leopard, lion, and large herbivore herds. The absence of rigid lodge structure allows for a more personalised and adaptive safari pace.
Transfers & Flights: Flight from Royal Airstrip to Mfuwe Airport followed by short transfer into camp. Return routing connects back to Lusaka via scheduled regional flight.
Safari Journey Concludes
A final transfer returns to Mfuwe Airport for the scheduled flight back into Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
