There are six tents at the lodge which boast a private wooden deck, each overlooking the Kafue River. The tents have stylish en-suite bathrooms with an indoor shower as well as an open-air shower. Screened entrances and doors provide a feeling of being in the heart of the bush. Solar electricity is used throughout the lodge and rooms, hot water is heated by wood boilers or solar geysers.
As well as the tents there is the private campsite. Situated right by the rapids, the three private sites on offer allow for up to a maximum of six guests in each. For those who wish to feel even more in touch with nature, this is a great way to spend a few days in the bush. Although completely separate from the lodge, each site has its own ablution block, cold and hot water, a kitchen sink and fire pits for cooking.
Adventurous and highly skilled guides ensure you will be getting the full safari experience when out on an activity. The friendly staff offer years of experience between them all. With a deep understanding of the bush and knowing what it is you wish to see, the guides will go out of their way to make your trip memorable, exciting and even humorous. The Lodge is owner-run and they have put a lot of heart and soul into the lodge. Together with their huge passion for perfect hospitality, the bush and the environment they make sure all guests are well looked after and feel right at home
Kaingu offers a number of wonderful river-based activities to enjoy. The river is definitely the main attraction in the area, with the rapids, channels and islands it lends itself to a range of river based activities, including boat cruises, canoeing or even fishing. Enjoy the beautiful surrounds and relax on a river cruise, with a large variety of birdlife along the way. You will also be sure to see hippo, crocodile and even elephant that frequent the river banks.
On land, Kaingu have recently added a series – over 23km – of game drive loops south of the Kaingu carpark. These loops regularly yield great sightings and they have access to the shishamba loops further north which are renowned.
