Benguerra Island, within the African Parks managed Bazaruto Archipelago, is one of six white sandy islands. Positioned off the coast of southern Mozambique, opposite the vibrant coastal town of Vilanculos Benguerra is just 11km in length and is the second biggest island of the archipelago. With just 2 lodges on the island it is easy to escape and relax in total seclusion.
Just like Bazaruto Island, there is a huge amount of marine life living in the warm seas around the island, such as dugongs, dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays, humpback whales, five species of Indian Ocean turtles, and of course many species of fish, crustaceans and more!
With a diverse population of flora and fauna thanks to the diversity of savannah and wetland habitats on this idyllic island. The island even has a freshwater lake where you can find an array of reptiles, including crocodiles which you can visit by game drive.
Accessible by boat or helicopter, you choose how you’d like to arrive in style.
