DestinationsDesert Wilderness Introduction
Your journey begins in a private reserve on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari, where wide desert skies, open landscapes, and year-round waterholes create a striking start to the safari. Dinaka offers you a strong contrast to the waterways of the Delta, with a dryland ecosystem rich in desert-adapted wildlife, birdlife, and excellent photographic opportunities.
You stay in a Tent on a full-board basis with game activities included. The camp has spacious thatched safari tents raised on wooden decks, each with an en-suite bathroom, large walk-in shower, outdoor shower with a view, and a private vantage point over a permanent waterhole. Wooden walkways connect the camp, and the layout is accessible while still feeling deeply immersed in the wilderness.
Your activities include morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, guided bush walks, star gazing, and time at the underground photographic bunker or hide. You may encounter Giraffe, Antelope, Honeybadger, Bat-eared fox, porcupine, Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard, brown hyena, and a wide variety of birds.
You can also take part in an educational walk with San Bushmen, offering insight into traditional knowledge, tracking, and life in the Kalahari environment. For families, the Young Explorers programme adds a flexible and engaging way for children to experience the wilderness alongside a specialist family guide.
Transfers & Flights: You fly from Maun International Airport (MUB) to Dinaka and check in at Dinaka.
Barefoot Delta Safari
You then continue from desert wilderness into the Okavango Delta, where water channels, island habitats, and private concession safari experiences create a completely different rhythm. Shinde Footsteps offers you an intimate, low-impact Bushcamp experience on the northern edge of the Delta, with a strong focus on traditional safari exploration.
You stay in a Safari Tent on a full-board basis with game activities included. The camp is small and personal, with only four tents and a maximum of six guests at a time. This creates a highly exclusive atmosphere ideal for couples, families, or small groups looking for a more private safari experience. The main area includes a dining tent, lounge, firepit, and views over a permanent hippo pool.
Your activities include game drives, night drives, mokoro excursions, walking safaris, and water-based exploration when conditions allow. You may encounter Elephants, Red Lechwe, Wilddogs, Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Tsessebe, Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, and semi-aquatic species such as Sitatunga.
Walking is a key part of the experience here. You explore fresh tracks, learn how wildlife and habitat interact, and slow down into the details of the Delta environment. For photographers, the camp also offers a dedicated photo editing space with desks, charging points, and storage.
Transfers & Flights: You fly from Dinaka Airstrip to Shinde Airstrip and check in at Shinde Footsteps.
Photographic Bushcamp Safari
Your journey then crosses into Zambia’s celebrated walking safari country, where the experience becomes more rustic, intimate, and wildlife focused. Mwamba Bush Camp is set on the banks of the Mwamba River beneath large evergreen ebony trees, with perennial waterholes and hides positioned for excellent wildlife viewing.
You stay in a Chalet on a full-board basis with game activities included. The camp has only four chalets, creating a small and personal atmosphere. Each chalet features interwoven bamboo walls, thatch roofing, a viewing deck over the dry riverbed, and a private outdoor en-suite bathroom with hot water bucket shower. The simple design, copper accents, and open-air bathrooms add to the charm of the Bushcamp experience.
Your activities include morning and afternoon game drives, guided walks, photographic hide visits, and the optional Numbu Star Bed sleepout. The hides offer especially strong opportunities for close wildlife observation and photography, while the camp’s shaded main area and campfire provide a relaxed place to unwind between activities.
This stay is ideal if you enjoy traditional safari atmosphere, low guest numbers, strong guiding, and the feeling of being close to the smaller details of the bush.
Transfers & Flights: You fly from Shinde Airstrip to Maun International Airport, connect onward to Lusaka International Airport, then fly from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to Mfuwe Airport (MFU). From Mfuwe, you transfer to Mwamba Bush Camp.
Luxury Riverfront Finale
Your final safari chapter takes you to a luxury riverfront camp set high above the Zambezi River, where big game viewing, water-based exploration, and relaxed camp living bring the journey to a polished close. Amanzi Camp is an intimate safari camp beneath ancient Jackalberry and Apple Leaf trees, offering beautiful river views and a peaceful wilderness setting.
You stay in a Tented Suite on a full-board basis with game activities included. The camp has just four spacious tents, including group tents, each with a private deck, indoor bathroom, fans, 24-hour battery power, and access to the camp’s swimming pool, dining area, lounge, laundry service, and Wi-Fi.
Your safari experience is flexible and tailored around your interests. You can explore on foot, by vehicle, and by boat, with activities including day and night game drives, boating safaris, guided walking safaris, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, and day trips down the Mapata Gorge.
Between activities, you can relax on your private deck, enjoy the elevated river views, spend time around the fire with a drink in hand, or settle into the pool deck overlooking the Zambezi. This final stay combines comfort, strong guiding, land and water safari variety, and a beautiful riverside setting.
Transfers & Flights: You transfer from Mwamba Bush Camp to Mfuwe Airport, fly to Jeki Airstrip (JEKI), and continue by transfer to Amanzi Camp.

After your final morning by the river, you check out from Amanzi Camp and begin your onward journey. The itinerary concludes with a transfer to Jeki Airstrip, followed by a scheduled flight to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, marking the end of your 13 Nights Zambia & Botswana Bushcamp itinerary.
