Your journey begins in Livingstone, where the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls combine to create one of Southern Africa’s most iconic safari gateways. Thorntree River Lodge delivers a refined riverside experience within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, blending contemporary luxury with uninterrupted views across the Zambezi. Designed with a strong emphasis on comfort, wellness, and exclusivity, the lodge offers spacious suites, private plunge pools, elegant, shared spaces, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Experiences range from private river cruises and cultural excursions to rhino tracking, canoeing, and guided visits to Victoria Falls. The atmosphere balances relaxation with adventure, creating an ideal introduction to Zambia.

Days 3 - 6

Shumba Camp | Kafue National Park (3 Nights)

Exclusive Plains Safari in Remote Busanga

The safari experience deepens as the itinerary moves into the Busanga Plains, one of the most remote and wildlife-rich regions within Kafue National Park. Shumba Camp is positioned on a wooded island overlooking endless floodplains that attract large concentrations of plains game and predators. Operating seasonally for only a few months each year, the camp delivers an exceptionally exclusive safari environment with minimal vehicle traffic and uninterrupted wilderness.

Accommodation is elevated and elegantly designed, while safari activities focus on game drives, night drives, seasonal boating, and hot air balloon experiences over the plains. The area is especially renowned for lion activity, cheetah sightings, and vast open landscapes teeming with wildlife. The experience combines exclusivity, remoteness, and classic safari immersion within one of Africa’s least explored ecosystems.

Transfers & Flights: Flight from Livingstone into Busanga Airstrip followed by a transfer into camp.

Days 6 - 9

Lolebezi | Lower Zambezi National Park (3 Nights)

Contemporary Luxury in the Lower Zambezi

The itinerary continues into the Lower Zambezi, introducing a highly luxurious and design-forward safari experience along the banks of the Zambezi River. Lolebezi combines contemporary African aesthetics with one of Zambia’s most productive wildlife regions. Positioned within a protected wilderness area, the lodge offers expansive suites, wellness facilities, river-facing spaces, and a strong focus on personalised safari experiences.

Activities include game drives, guided walking safaris, canoeing, boating, fishing, and river excursions, all supported by exceptional guiding and consistently strong wildlife sightings. Elephant herds, leopards, wild dogs, and diverse birdlife are frequently encountered throughout the region. The experience is defined by sophisticated comfort, striking design, and immersive wildlife encounters in an exceptionally scenic setting.

Transfers & Flights: Routing via Lusaka into Jeki Airstrip followed by a transfer into camp.

Days 9 - 13

Chichele Presidential | South Luangwa National Park (4 Nights)

Historic Safari Elegance in South Luangwa

The final stage of the journey moves into South Luangwa National Park, widely regarded as one of Africa’s finest safari destinations and home of the original walking safari. Perched high above the surrounding wilderness, Chichele Presidential offers panoramic views across rivers, forests, and floodplains. Originally built as President Kenneth Kaunda’s private retreat, the lodge has been reimagined into one of Zambia’s most prestigious safari properties while maintaining its historic significance.

The experience combines elevated luxury with exceptional wildlife viewing, supported by expert guiding, walking safaris, photographic hides, and day and night game drives. The surrounding ecosystem is particularly well known for leopard sightings, dense wildlife populations, and dramatic seasonal landscapes. The extended stay allows for a deeper exploration of South Luangwa’s varied habitats while enjoying one of the country’s most iconic luxury lodges.
