Sunbird Chintheche has a beautiful white sandy beach on the western side of Lake Malawi. Palm trees are scattered along the shore and the waters are crystal clear. The grounds are large with beautiful well-kept gardens. For those less inclined to take a dip in the lake, there is a large swimming pool right on the edge of the beach. There’s plenty of space at Sunbird Chintheche, sit back, relax and enjoy this lovely spot right on the lake shore. It is the perfect getaway for families and friends.
Intimate, Comfortable Rooms
There are 10 comfortable rooms, each with a view overlooking the beach, grounds and gardens. The bright rooms each have their own en-suite bathrooms that look out onto the shoreline. The rooms either have twin or double beds, mosquito nets, a fan to keep you cool in the warmer months and the bed spreads add a splash of colour and brightness to the rooms. For those early risers, you can enjoy a cup of tea on your private veranda in one of the comfortable deck chairs.
Keeping Busy
There are a variety of activities on offer at Sunbird Chintheche. For the more adventurous, there are water-based sports such as sailing and windsurfing. The snorkelling here is excellent, with the lake home to a variety of beautiful fish. You will also find lovely hiking trails and good routes for mountain biking. Fishing is available too. You can experience local culture with a visit to the nearby fishing village, and for those who enjoy birding, the area is home to more than 100 species. There is truly something for everyone, and your days can be filled with as much activity and enjoyment as you like.

The most friendly staff we have experienced in our travels. Confirmed the saying that a smile goes a long way. Here we felt at home and any concerns we had were addressed immediately. The room was nice, clean and spacious with a direct view of Lake Malawi. The food was great and they went a long way to accommodate us. We extended our stay to 3 nights and greatly enjoyed our stay.
