On the south-west corner of Likoma Island you will find an exclusive down to earth private house built against a rocky hill on a private beach with stunning views of Lake Malawi. Completely secluded from the outside world Ndomo House is an ultimate Kaya Mawa group retreat and a perfect point to wind down after an African safari. The house boasts of a great design that is inspired by architecture of Zanzibar, Zambia, and Kenya’s Lamu Island with some hints of Morocco and India. Built around boulders, the house has a large living room, dining area and kitchen, study, and media room.

Lake Malawi Paradise
Ndomo Private House is an amazing place, the only place on the lake that basks all-year-round sunset featured by stunning views of the nearby Chizumulu Island and the mainland across the lake. Set in a little bay surrounded by turquoise water full of cichlid fish the resort is a perfect place for water sports such as kayaks, snorkeling, skiing, and SUP. There is a private plunge pool where you can cool off with a cold glass of gin and tonic from a fully stocked bar on the house. The food is very exceptional and probably some of the best you can have in Malawi with lots of fresh produce and from the hotel’s gardens.
Beautiful décor and ambience
Ndomo point’s design is influenced by a blend of central and eastern Africa architecture with the flavor of Zanzibar, Kenya, and Zambia and some melting ideal designs of India and Morocco. The interior décor is paired with African antiquities and bespoke pieces largely produced at their own Katundu Workshop. The house has rough, rocky walls with a dramatic contrast against the smooth plastered rooms that follow a winding curve around the rocky hill. Stepping outside there is a courtyard, kitchen and dining area, private plunge pool with panoramic views of the Lake and beyond.

Wow, what a magnificent property. The hotel placed me in the most beautiful room imaginable on an island. I had to cross a bridge to get to it. The room was stunning. The massage room overlooked the water, and the masseuse was terrific.

Perfect end to our honeymoon
Everything, from the flight into the island onwards, was perfect. We were shown around by Ali and Oli (the new managers) on arrival, and our cottage was beautiful- huge, with a double shower and a private pool on the terrace. The food was just incredible, and the bar had a fantastic selection of drinks. Watersports were great- paddle boarding with the hotel’s dog at the helm was a highlight! All in all- totally wonderful.

Wonderful, relaxing family holiday in a special location
We had a truly wonderful holiday on our return visit to Kaya Mawa; it was even more beautiful than we remembered. The epitome of barefoot luxury, Kaya is a collection of beautifully curated spaces that effortlessly pull together into a place you just want to be. !ts thoughtful design, well-spaced layout and ample lounging areas, create the sense you have the island to yourself even when they’re quite full.
