Kutandala Camp is an intimate, off-the-beaten-track bush camp nestled along the Mwaleshi River deep within North Luangwa National Park; one of Africa’s most untouched and wild safari destinations. The camp’s name reflects its spirit of exploration and immersion in true wilderness. It’s ideally suited for guests seeking authentic walking safaris, guided game drives and deep wildlife encounters in a place largely devoid of crowds and commercial development.

Set deep within the remote reaches of North Luangwa National Park, Kutandala Camp sits beside the Mwaleshi River in a landscape that feels truly untouched. This is one of Africa’s last great wilderness areas, where vast spaces, minimal human presence and raw nature define the experience. Wildlife Encounters & Expert-Led Safaris

Experiences are led by highly skilled, fully accredited guides whose deep understanding of the North Luangwa ecosystem and animal behaviour adds real depth to every encounter. This is a true Big Five habitat, home to free-roaming elephants, lions, buffalo and rhino, alongside rare endemics such as Cookson’s wildebeest and Crawshay’s zebra. Birdlife is abundant, making every walk and drive rich with detail and discovery.

Kutandala Camp is seasonal, operating annually from 1 June to 15 November, which coincides with the prime safari period in North Luangwa National Park.

Low Season: 1 June – 30 June
Early dry season brings cooler temperatures, lush landscapes, and fewer visitors, particularly ideal for travellers seeking value and a quieter wilderness experience.
High Season: 1 July – 15 November
Peak safari months with excellent game viewing as wildlife concentrates around permanent water sources. Conditions are dry and warm, offering optimal walking safaris and game drives.

The camp is closed outside of these dates due to seasonal rains and limited access within the park.

Kutandala is the closest thing to the Africa experienced by early explorers, combined with excellent food and personal service. Rod and Guz run an outstanding, small but comfortable and very exciting operation, far away from civilization and mankind. Nature is not at your doorstep, you are living in it. Continuously surrounded by wildlife and wilderness, you will sleep, eat and walk. How Guz can produce 3* Michelin quality food under such primitive circumstances is beyond imagination. Go there if you want to experience the real africa, as long as it lasts….
