Exceptional Location
Set beside Verney’s Pan in the south-eastern region of Hwange, the camp overlooks a wide floodplain fringed by ancient teak forest. This remote 10,000-hectare concession ensures complete privacy, far from the usual safari routes, while still allowing access to the public areas of the park. Its position near a busy waterhole draws large herds of elephants and a rich variety of other game right into view.
Unique Activities
Guests can expect an ever-changing spectacle of wildlife right from the comfort of the camp, especially during the dry season when animals gather in large numbers at the pan. Guided game drives explore both the concession and the broader park, while mornings and evenings offer optimal sightings. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with classic safari traditions, ensures every moment in the bush feels personal and unhurried.
Accommodation
Ten well-spaced canvas tents are discreetly positioned beneath the shade of mature trees, each with views across the waterhole. Rooms are raised on wooden platforms and linked by soft sand pathways. Inside, guests will find en-suite bathrooms with double vanities, outdoor showers, and interiors styled to evoke the romance of safari living. Two family tents cater to those travelling with children.

“Verney’s camp and the entire staff is like heaven on earth. From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive, friendly, and personable. Our guide Lue was fantastic. He made all of our safari outings so fun and is very knowledgeable about the animals, how they live and cohabitate. I highly recommend Verney’s camp if you go to Hwange. Each meal was excellent and the hospitality of the staff is second to none. “Loved the Game drives twice a day with our experienced, knowledgable and enthusiastic Guide, Trust! The accommodations were clean and inviting. Time and again – Trust and the Verneys Camp
“Verney’s camp – a dream. Spacious tented camps – the family unit had 2 bedrooms! In June it was very cold in the tents in the morning and at night – but there were electric blankets and Bush babies (hot bottles), so everything was perfect. Very good food, great location at a waterhole (manmade) through which the elephants passed, ‘super guides. Go for Trust, cause in Trust we trust! Trust was very competent, active and fantastic in finding the animals. At the beginning we watched a pack of lions hunting, exciting!” Date of stay: June 2025
