The camp is situated in a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park, sitting on a large open floodplain which is surrounded by forest, a gorgeous location alone. There are 10 well-appointed tents, each with views over the waterhole and tucked away under the trees, positioned for that all important privacy. Verney’s offers a classic safari experience and the decor fits in with the setting you are in. Enjoy the natural beauty of the area in an authentic safari setting.
Luxury Tents
There are 8 twin or double tents and 2 family units at Verney’s Camp, and each has been so perfectly positioned under the trees with views overlooking the pan. The tents have en-suite bathrooms complete with a shower and flush toilet and the rooms themselves are designed to keep the authentic safari feel in a very luxurious setting. Due to the position of each tent you can enjoy the privacy of your stay, sit out on your deck, relish in the serenity and peace and appreciate the incredible surroundings.
Location
As Verney’s is set in a private concession in the Hwange National Park, the area itself is quieter and you get a far more intimate experience when staying here as it is not accessed by regular park visitors. The waterhole near the camp is popular to the African elephant and you will catch herds coming down for a drink and enjoying their playground; right in the comfort of your own tent or in the main area of the camp. The area is clean and unspoilt and offers a real luxurious and personal safari experience to its guests.
Cultural Visits
Guests can enjoy a village tour on their visit, where you can talk to the chief and look around his homestead as well as meeting the local people. This gives guests the opportunity to engage in the culture and learn about the way of life and local cuisine. As Verney’s support 2 schools in the area, this is also included in the tour. If you wish you can also head to the cultural village or local clinic. It is something different that Verney’s offer and if you have the time on your trip it is a great way to get the opportunity to learn about a new culture.

We were fortunate to become the very first group of guests staying in Verney’s Camp during May 2018. We did enjoy very much of our stay, the tent are clean and spacious, the staff and guides are very friendly and welcoming.

We visited in December, shortly after the camp opened – it was all and everything we hoped for in an African Safari. Relaxing, calm but with incredible game viewing. The camp staff was charming and your young passionate guide taught us much about the bushveld! We should have stayed longer.

Best camp in Hwange
This is the second time I’ve visited Hwange National Park and words are unable to describe the experience of staying in the park. The sunsets alone are breathtaking and the close up views of the animals are magical. If you decide to lodge in the park it has to be Verney’s! Although they are the new kid on the block you would never know it. Their attention to detail and hospitality are unrivaled. During your entire stay you will feel safe and papered. This is glamping at its finest!
