Thyolo House was renovated and repurposed from an old farmhouse that was built in the first half of the last century. The house retains the charm of that old colonial farmhouse and is surrounded by tea estates and gardens that seamlessly disappear into the surrounding tropical forest.

The History
Thyolo House has a rich history dating back over a century ago. The farmhouse was built as part of the adjoining Conforzi Tea and Tobacco Estates. Its heritage and culture have been carefully maintained over the years even though it has gone through several renovations and extensions. Its character remains that of the old farmhouse as charming as it was back in the day. This is a calm and beautiful haven away from the hustles and bustles of the city with easy access to Mount Mulanje and the surrounding estates.
Luxury Accommodation
Just 35 minutes’ drive from Limbe, Thyolo House sits very close to the main road right in the middle of the beautiful Satemwa and Conforzi Tea Plantations. The house has three large luxury rooms and a family cottage by the swimming pool. All rooms are ensuite featuring beautiful interiors that fuses African and European décor.
The Restaurant
Thyolo House offers unbeatable mealtime views of the surrounding tea estates and tropical forests. Well, maybe not unbeatable, because the food puts up a decent challenge. Their restaurant offers a wide variety of cuisines and fusion cuisines highlighting including Italian, Thai, and Indian influences. Most of the ingredients are picked from their chemical-free garden and the excellent teas and coffees are sourced from the neighboring estates.

A Special Place to Stay
We stayed here and fell in love with the staff: Amos you are The Best. The owner: Flavia, I never got my hug! And the wonderful grounds. The chalets are huge and well maintained. I could live in the one we had, it was bigger than our house. Everything was well maintained, comfortable and service was the best. After a hard day we sat on our private porch and sipped libations. All meals were wonderfully prepared with care but dinners were beyond compare. The creative table settings, the lovely presentation of food and best of all the variety of wonderful gourmet foods on offer. You will not regret staying here!

Lovely and peaceful getaway with great restaurant
Thyolo house is about a 40-minute drive from Blantyre and an escape into a lovely setting with meticulously prepared outside tables, a menu with many options of good food, kind service and a trail to hike if you are so inclined. However, the main pleasure is the chance to get away from Blantyre for a very relaxing afternoon. The staff are very accommodating and provide excellent service. Menu includes pastas, pizza, fish, chicken, meat, vegetarian options, starters, and homemade desserts pasta. I will go back next time I come to Malawi!

The getaway you need
About 35-45 minutes from Blantyre, the Thyolo House is an amazing getaway for a day out to relax and enjoy amazing, tantalizing food. It is also a fabulous place to stay with stunning views of forest and access to the tea plantations. The food is a special distillation of Italian food with other cuisines like Thai, Indian and continental. The menu has selections for all types of palates and will not disappoint. I have been here a few times and was always impressed. The menu can change so call-in advance to find out what is being served. The staff is attentive and efficient. The owner, Flavia actually sees to her clients needs personally and ensures that everything is perfect and spic and span. This is one place you definitely have to visit.
