Why we love Taita Falcon Lodge
Key Features

Rates/Bookings

Taita Falcon Lodge is a peaceful retreat perched on the edge of the Batoka Gorge cliffside, located just 11 km from Victoria Falls. Surrounded by natural bush and set high above the Zambezi River, the lodge offers a quiet alternative to busier town accommodations with stunning panoramic views. Guests can enjoy spacious, thatched-roof chalets cooled by the gorge breeze while exploring the area at a slower pace. With a range of adventures nearby—from white-water rafting and helicopter flips to cultural village visits and gorge hikes—it is an ideal base for those wanting to experience the “smoke that thunders” alongside authentic Zambian wilderness.

“This beautiful island paradise is the perfect tranquil place to relax when exploring the falls, from otters and hippos swimming around the island to the incredible rooms with huge bathtubs with a view over the river, amazing food and hilarious managers. I was treated like royalty here and can’t wait to go back! Crossing the swing bridge to get to my room on the second island was a really fun way of making the lodge seem so remote!”

You look at the photos and think it can’t be that nice ….. but it is!! Taita Lodge is a jewel of a place with angels for staff. It feels like you are their first and only guests ever, making you feel special and nurtured as if you are part of a royal family. It is a laid-back environment tailored to your needs, from activities to dining times, to making sure you are relaxed and looked after. The setting is exquisite and you can spend hours and days lounging in the room with an amazing view or so the lounge deck or the pool. Otherwise, there is a lot to do as it is relatively close to all the tourist attractions but far enough to escape it again and to just enjoy the silence and the sound of the river far below. Taita got it right, it’s amazing and we will return anytime.

  • Core memory formed at Taita Falcon Lodge

The view, BREATHTAKING. The calm from the gushing Zambezi river, BEST SLEEP! The staff, DIFFERENTIATOR. The view atop the gorge, is life changing, and our room overlooks that. It was the perfect getaway from the big city we needed. But sometimes, it is the people and service that define an experience. The entire staff at Taita Falcon Lodge is amazing. They are attentive while giving you sufficient privacy, sincere in their hospitality, and go the extra mile in making our stay truly memorable. Eg: Faith and Lisa made special effort to change our room to the bigger family chalet when we were perfectly contented with existing. Simon took such great care of my son when we hiked down to the gorge that hub and I could fully focus on the experience and view (& not falling). Weston gifted my son a self-made hand crafted wooden giraffe (which he has named Sir Weston). Everyone was special.
