Robin's House Tours
Rates/Bookings

Originally the home of Robin Pope himself, it has now been turned into a family house for the families that want privacy and exclusivity. With its own pool, kitchen and chef, private vehicle and guide it is fully self contained. This is one of the few places you can have children of all ages and gives the flexibility for you to decide your activities around your children’s schedules.

Family friendly

A safari can be an incredible experience for those with children but often tricky when you are around other guests and certain activities have age limits. Here, thanks to being a private house, your kids can fully immerse themselves into learning all about the bush from footprints to feathers and poop to bird calls. Your private guide can take them round the house to show them how to be a mini-guide themselves.

You are away from other guests so if your little ones do decide to throw the mother of all tantrums, they are only going to get themselves into trouble, not the parents! Get your children involved in nature and let them discover the wonder of the wilderness.

Flexibility

As you have your own house with your own staff you can make your own timings. Your kids need a lie in? No problem. You want a snack? No problem. Fancy an early night? No problem! Just discuss with your hosts to meet your needs for activities, food and comfort. After all, this is your home from home in the bush!

Location

The house is based in a game management area so you are not constricted by park rules. This means your little ones can go on short walks with the guide (to his discretion) to learn how to track, to learn to bird and to see some smaller creatures.

Don’t be fooled though you are just across the river from the park and will often have animals in camp (particularly elephants who love crossing the river) so you will still see plenty. And, of course, you will cross the river for the game drives!

  • Great start to our safari

    Excellent game sightings.
Four people per vehicle. No middle seats, not cramped.
Our guide Fred, got us into great private viewing positions for sightings.
Wonderful hospitality. Kiki, best laugh in Africa.
Infinity edge pool overlooking a small lagoon with birds, Humphrey, resident hippo, though only briefly above water, a favourite of mine. Excellent food.
Loved the adventurous trips across the river, whether by deep river driving or the boat.

  • Amazing lodge

I stayed here for two nights as part of a ten night safari in South Luangwa.
The whole experience was amazing from the great location, the Lodge and the game drives.
What really stood out was the pride the staff took in their work and their urge to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
The highlight of the stay here was finding the pride of lions on a giraffe kill.
The number of repeat guests I meet is obvious testament to the quality of the Robin Pope safari experience.

  • Beautiful lodge

This lodge has gorgeous rooms. Individual rondawels, beautifully appointed, could have spent longer. Super comfortable beds and linen. Food is good, staff are lovely and friendly.

  • Brilliant safari experience

We stayed at 3 Robin Pope camps in the South Luangwa national park in August 2018. We chose Robin Pope based on their track record and expertise in the area over many years. We started at Tena Tena, moving on to Nsefu and finally Nkwali.

Nkwali was a bit different from the other two camps we stayed at, in that it’s just on the boundary of the national park and requires a short trip across the river via a pontoon (which is in itself an interesting experience). We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Nkwali – each camp has its own unique feel. Even after quite a few game drives, we continued to be amazed by the variety and flora and fauna in the area.

The staff were great. Guides were very knowledgeable and friendly, and we always felt very safe.
