Lilayi Lodge Tours
Rates/Bookings

Not far from the airport, this stylish and peaceful boutique hotel is the perfect place for a stopover before your Zambian Adventure. Based on a working farm the tranquil settings even have some game on them which should set you up for the first sightings of your trip. Lilayi Lodge is well known for its incredible food and is a firm favourite amongst locals.

Food

Priding itself on having some of the best food in Lusaka this is a firm favourite amongst guests and locals on the weekends! With a full time Sommelier and most of the food produced grown on the farm, meal times become a real treat! You can even try some of the game meats from recent culls on the farm which we would highly recommend.

Activities

Lilayi Lodge is nestled into about 650 hectares of unspoiled grassland and is home to over 25 different species of mammals and over 300 species of birds. Not only can you visit the elephant orphanage but there are a whole host of activities on offer for those that have a little more time to hand. From guided ‘safari’ walks and ‘game drives’ to see some of the plains game on the farm to horse riding and wine tasting. If that wasn’t enough there is a gorgeous swimming pool you can cool off in when the heat gets a little much!

The Elephant Nursery

Problems with human wildlife conflict have often resulted in baby elephants falling victim and find themselves without families. Lilayi Lodge have partnered with Game Rangers International (a non-profit conservation organisation) and together they are giving the orphaned babies a home and family, with the hope of re-introducing them into the wild one day. If you are staying at Lilayi Lodge you get the opportunity to go behind the scenes and get to have a look at the incredibly inspiring project and help the keepers care for the baby elephants. Whilst you cant touch them (please remember these animals are raised to be wild) it is an incredible chance to get up and close to these majestic animals and help the conservation of this iconic species.

  • An oasis

The lodge is set in a large game reserve. Their are 3 walks well signposted ranging from 3kms to 10kms. The game on the reserve can be seen on the walks. We opted for horse riding which gave an even better view of the animals. A visit to the elephant orphanage is a must. You can opt for a game drive but what can be better than on horse or foot? The lodges are large, comfortable and clean.

  • Tranquil setting

This has become a favourite spot. The elephant orphange is a must and then on the drive to the lodge you see giraffe, bushbuck, warthog and puku. We also rate the food at Lilayi as top notch! Consistently delicious. Great view from the restaurant deck and friendly staff complete the experience. Children are made very welcome and usually enjoy swimming in the large pool close to the restaurant.

  • Great place to relax before safari

We stayed a couple of days at Lilayi Lodge to jet coop and get ready to head out on a 3 week safari. It was great in all regards. You can take a small game drive or walk the grounds to spot great wildlike roaming around (no predators). The food was very good and the bungalows quite nice. Definitely worth the stop before going into the bush.
