Kukaya is a gem in South Luangwa National Park. It is a new property under the Bushcamp Company which was built over the covid period with the company’s staff. It, therefore, has a personal touch and is the best place for a family as well as individual trips. Derived from the local language which means village, Kukaya indeed makes you feel at home with its enchanting local touch yet with modern amenities making sure that you and your loved ones are thought of at heart. The food here is excellent, the chefs have mastered the art of cooking; you would never want to miss a meal!

Why we love Kukaya

“I personally loved the environment where Kukaya is nestled and of course the personalized treatment that you get without compromise. The staff at this amazing gem pays attention to detail and the cherry on top is the private experience that you get starting from your personal swimming pool by the chalet, to your private game drives. I wouldn’t love it any better way!” – Ivy Chinkhuntha, Sales Consultant – November 2023

Exceptional Member of staff: “Nicola the Manager; sat with us on the bonfire while we waited for dinner, she is sweet and patient and managed to answer all the questions we asked. Nicole is humble and well-collected.”

Location

Kukaya is inside the park with its restaurant facing the plain with spots of green plants that attract wildlife. You can simply sit on your chalet and watch Impalas feed on the grass or Elephant coming closer to your chalet for a quick hi.

Accommodation

Their chalets are big enough to accommodate a family of 8. Even so, it is wide enough to make sure that each one of them doesn’t feel like their space has been invaded. The lounge and the outside area provide enough options on where to relax in and out of different seasons.

Armchair Game Viewing

Kukaya has strategically positioned wildlife viewing hides that allows visitors to make the best use of the environment. These hides are ideal spots for an easy afternoon of gin and tonic while enjoying spectacular game splash and Splish in front of you.

Kukaya ( in Chichewa means at home) rightly so. 🙂

“Our one night stay at Bushcamp Company’s new lodge, Kukaya, in early October was nothing short of extraordinary. The scorching heat of October, during a heatwave with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius, made the private plunge pool in our luxury suite an absolute oasis. The staff at Kukaya were exceptional, offering warm hospitality and a level of service that truly exceeded our expectations. We had a a delicious Mongolian barbecue for our dinner under the boma, that had us coming for seconds 🙂 . The lodge exudes luxury and elegance, blending seamlessly with the surrounding natural beauty, such a haven of tranquility and comfort in the heart of the wilderness. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect way to start our Fam trip. Our one-night stay left us longing for more, and we can’t wait to return to this paradise. Thank you, Bushcamp Company, for creating such a memorable experience at Kukaya”. Date of stay: October 2023
