What a lovely stay! The staff are incredibly kind, warm, welcoming and really go the extra mile to make Heuglin’s feel like a home away from home. The food is also amazing!!

Fantastic place with amazing food!
Heuglin’s is awesome. Our health care team stayed here and we were treated like family. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with good mosquito nets and a nice bathroom. The shared space is wonderful for hanging out in with a group and for meeting other guests (who were often there on interesting work). The staff – Sarah, Loucis, Jane and Mary – were friendly and helpful and kind – felt like friends. I can’t say enough good things about the food. Breakfast was included and started with coffee or tea, yogurt, granola and fresh fruit – followed by a hot breakfast with a ginger shot. Dinner was not included in our rate, but we opted to have dinner here almost every night and it was delicious. Pius and Sandram are absolutely amazing chefs.
They are very versatile and will make meals that you request. My favorite meal of all was when we asked them to make Malawian specialties – best Chombo you will ever eat, along with delicious tomato sauce, chicken, two types of greens, rice and nsima. Delicious!! The owners Pam and Chris were friendly and welcoming – we even played music one night in the shared space with Chris joining us on harmonica. I missed all the Malawian friends that we made at Heuglins after we got home. I hope to be back in Lilongwe sometime in the next few years and would absolutely stay at Heuglins again.

You feel welcome from the time you enter the gate, you are received like family or old friends. The staff is attentive to your every need without being intrusive. The chefs, Pius and Sandrom, could be working at a 5-star restaurant and you will find them smiling at your table at every delicious meal. We did yoga every day by the pool before enjoying the coffee bar. The lodge is designed so you can be together in common areas as well as private accommodations to fit your needs. Laundry is also available. The owners are lovely and our team will miss everyone at Heughlin’s long after our visit to the warm heart of Africa!
