Situated within the Victoria Falls national Park and just 15 minutes-drive from the Falls itself, it’s got one of the best locations and settings in the area. The camp is set on a ridge, between the Masuwe River and the Zambezi Gorges, giving its guests the most spectacular views of the top of the Falls…all from your very own private balcony. The tents are made from canvas, so they fit in perfectly with the surroundings, you really do get a sense of being deep in the wild.
The camp is decorated in a simple style with touches of Africa throughout and the tones used reflect that of being on safari, fitting in harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Every tent is exactly the same, canvased walls, mesh windows, private decks and even your very own plunge pool to enjoy. Large doors open up so you can make the most of the incredible views around; it’s a peaceful camp and a wonderful place to wind down after a trip or enjoy prior to one.
The camps location is spectacular and one of the lodges in the area that are lucky to offer those incredible views to their guests; they truly are out of this world. High above the treeline and overlooking the national park onto the Batoka Gorge, in a peaceful and quiet setting. If you enjoy the peace and quiet but wish to also enjoy the popular Falls Elephant Camp offers the best of both worlds. Spend some time at the camp and relish in the bush setting and tranquillity then head over to the busy falls and see one of the greatest sights of all time.
Although a controversial subject the encounters at Elephant Camp are run by Wild Horizons and are due to 2 incredible species being orphaned. The first is the elephant interaction, thanks to the sanctuary on the concession in the 1990’s elephants were orphaned and raised here. These gorgeous creatures are very well looked after, and this is run with a strong concern for ethical responsibility. The other is the encounter with Sylvester, the Cheetah orphaned as a cub. As he grew, he was passed to a wildlife trust and is well looked after and monitored daily. Free to roam the concession as he pleases, he has become well habituated and has even been an ambassador to help teach the local children about human-wildlife conflict.
