Situated a couple of minutes from Flatdogs main camp, the ‘Croc Nest’ is an exclusive tented chalet perfect for families and small groups. Opened in 2015 Crocodile Nest offers secluded safari accommodation overlooking Luangwa River with two large en-suite bedrooms separated by a spacious lounge containing several comfortable sofas, a polished wooden dining table, a minibar, and a bookshelf with a selection of novels and guidebooks. Croc Nest also features inside and outside living and dining spaces plus hot showered bathrooms.

Private Pool

Nestled a few minutes from the main camp, Crocodile Nest boasts of a private pool with fantastic views across the lagoon and the bush. Big sliding doors give you access to a deck, which comes with a private swimming pool, dining tables, pool beds and umbrellas. The pool, sun loungers and bar provide a relaxing environment for spectacular animal sightings on the lagoon and the bush.

Exclusive safari accommodation

Crocodile Nest consists of two en-suite spacious bedrooms very ideal for families and small groups. Each bedroom has its own entrance onto the deck and comes with beautiful views of the bush and the Luangwa River. Timber furniture is perfectly complimented by canvas textures used throughout the interior. Each room has a mosquito net and the semi-open bathrooms all have hot water. The front of the chalet is made up of several folding screen doors that open up onto a tiered wooden deck extending towards the river.

Perfect Game-viewing spot

Uniquely situated in the remotest areas of the park, Crocodile Nest is only open during the best game-viewing season (June to October) of the year. This beautiful and colorful thatched camp is perfect for wildlife spotting, with raised decks and views of the oxbow lagoon. The unfenced camp means regular visits from elephant, bushbuck, giraffe, and hippo. The area also sees good proportions of lion and leopard. This does mean that the camp is not suitable for small children, but rather caters to adults and group travelers.

  • Treehouse stay

We enjoyed our experience at the treehouse – great up close and personal wildlife watching in a very unique but still plenty comfortable setting.
The staff at the lodge were very friendly (special shoutouts to Lydia for always greeting us with a smile on her face and Jephet for guarding the house against monkeys while we were out).

  • Croc’s nest is amazing!!

We’ve had the best experience ever at the Croc’s nest at Flatdogs Camp. Jonathan is the best possible guide that you can imagine!! He has a lot of knowledge and this combined with his respect for the animals and nature is beyond my expectations. We’ve seen it all. Elephants next to the pool.. Girafs at the camp… I would go back whenever I could!!! All the staff is just as nice… Amazing!!

  • Wonderful stay at Flatdogs!

My gf & I just completed a 3 night stay in the Jackelberry Treehouse at Flatdogs. What a perfect experience. We had a fantastic time.
The treehouse can be occupied by 2 couples – but we had it all to ourselves. A dedicated attendant is provided and was always available for anything we needed.
