Butiama Beach Lodge is a sister lodge to Butiama Bustani, Hotel both located on the West Coast of Mafia Island close to Kilindoni main town. The lodge is a situated on the beachfront retreat where you can relax and unwind. The beach is the starting point for guests to head for the waters to swim with the dolphins, scuba dive and snorkel. This family-run business aims for a casual and a relaxed beach experience, targeting couples, families, and friends. The lodge features 13 bungalows with a maximum of 32 guests. It is only 10 minutes’ drive from Mafia Island Airstrip to the lodge.
Top of the Class dining facilities
Chiringuito Beach and Pool Bar, and Peku Peku Restaurant sit at the edge of the beach front. Chiringuito Pool Bar offers a wide range of soft drinks, local beers, wines and cocktails and it’s open from morning until the last man retires to bed. If you want some fresh coconut drinks don’t hesitate to ask the friendly staff, they will quickly get one from the tree for you. Enjoy cold beer while you play darts, table tennis and pool. Why not read a book from their library at the bar! Located close to the bar is the Peku Peku Restaurant offering an a-la-carte menu available with varied choices for breakfast, lunch, snacks and a three main course dinner.
Fitness and wellness centres
Butiama Beach Lodge features a spa and yoga centre. There is a traditional “banda”, a locally made hut on the beach where guests can enjoy a holistic deep tissue massage that uses Pure Virgin Coconut Oil from the Island to a traditional mani-pedi. Situated next to the spa is their Yoga studio. First of its kind on the Island, the Yoga studio is very welcoming and every guest is invited to join these sessions. There are both local and international teacher guides to help you practice, even for those who have never tried yoga before.

The Beach lodge boasts a swimming pool with exquisite views of the Indian Ocean. You are perfectly set to relax and enjoy a cold sip of your favorite cocktail while enjoying the warm sun and breeze in this hidden gem set on this secluded part of the world away life’s disturbances.

Relaxed place. Nice excursions
We did not dive but snorkelled twice and went on a turtle hatching trip which was amazing. All trips were well organized. The resort has a nice beach at high tide and a relaxed lounge and restaurant with good food.

Great resort with great Staff!
Me and my wife really enjoyed our four night stay in Big Blu resort. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plenty and great, not to mention their three course dinners. We highly recommend Big Blu resort (and diving centre)!

Paradise on earth
What an amazing place! I stayed at big blu for 8 nights and felt at home. Everybody is so friendly, I felt welcomed from the very beginning with the huge smile and positive energy of Simon! I stayed in a tent with a 10 dive package and it is such a great deal! There is a fan and they spray the tents every night to kill the bugs. The beds were really comfy (but the tent for 2 persons might be a bit tiny, staying alone was perfect) and they provide the towels. The breakfast is great (included in the price) and the dinner is a good deal for the price : 3 courses menu and really tasty! The staff always had a huge smile and I absolutely loved everyone there, I almost cried saying goodbye.
