Banyan Tree Ilha Caldeira is a new property and the first of its kind in Mozambique under the Banyan
Tree chain of hotels. Located on the private island of Ilha Caldeira, off the coast of Mozambique, this a precious paradise that offers its guests a time to connect with the unexplored natural surroundings and immerse them in the culturally rich heritage portrayed in the details of this destination. This ultra-luxurious private island destination encompasses everything that’s romantic about Africa – a remote, tropical environment encircled by pristine coral reefs and the warm, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, filled with a rich diversity of marine life. A truly idyllic island destination for the experiential traveler, honeymooners, multi-generational families, and everyone in between.
The positioning of this Ilha Caldeira is unmatched. Nestled on a secluded island, surrounded by the ocean on every side, it makes every minute spent here private and precious. There are two ways of getting to the island according to the level of adventure and personal preferences of each guest. You can either arrive in Nampula, get onto a fixed-wing aircraft from Nampula Airport to Larde, followed by a private boat trip to Ilha Caldeira or simply arrive in Nampula and fly by Helicopter straight into the private island. Both routes present beautiful scenic views which are breathtaking!
The villas at Banyan Tree are designed to rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul. They are designed and inspired by the diverse local cultures, and warm soothing colors and are built with locally found materials. Each of the villas has Interiors feature curated Mozambican craftsmanship, and artisanal and handmade pieces adding to the warmth and luxury.
At Banyan Tree Ilha Caldeira, activities will range from whale watching and kayaking to sailing, stand-up paddling, scuba diving, windsurfing, deep sea fishing, surfing, sunset cruises and more await you; not forgetting exploration of a nearby shipwreck of the historical Dutch MS Brastagi which sunk in 1947.
Visitors also have the opportunity to explore the islands of the Primeiras and Segundas Archipelago and its diverse marine environment. The island’s Marine Conservation Centre will also be the base for a diving school where scuba open water diving courses will be available.
As well as being the perfect sanctuary for the senses, Banyan Tree Ilha Caldeira is very much a family destination and has its own, dedicated Kids Club offering a range of indoor and outdoor activities designed especially for youngsters to introduce them to nature and their surroundings.
The Banyan Tree Ilha Caldeira experience is further enhanced by gastronomical dining choices from its fish and seafood market-style restaurant with incredible ocean views, an all-day dining restaurant and destination dining options to in-villa dining.
