Classic Walking Safari Territory in South Luangwa

Your journey begins with a flight from Lusaka into Mfuwe, gateway to South Luangwa National Park, followed by a scenic transfer into the remote wilderness sector surrounding Time + Tide Kakuli. Positioned along the Luangwa River with panoramic views across lagoons and wildlife corridors, the camp delivers a classic South Luangwa safari experience built around expert guiding, walking safaris, and intimate wildlife encounters. Elevated river chalets, open-air communal spaces, and access to one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense ecosystems create a strong foundation for the journey ahead. The region is renowned for exceptional leopard sightings, large lion prides, elephant concentrations, and seasonal Carmine Bee-eater colonies, supported by a guiding tradition rooted in the origins of Zambia’s iconic walking safari heritage.

Days 4 - 8

Kutandala Camp | North Luangwa National Park (4 Nights)

Remote Big Five Wilderness in Northern Zambia

A scheduled bush flight transfers you deeper into one of Zambia’s least explored and most protected wilderness areas. Kutandala Camp is positioned along the Mwaleshi River in North Luangwa National Park, an ecosystem defined by rugged escarpments, riverine woodland, and exceptionally low visitor density. The camp offers an authentic safari environment with just a handful of safari tents overlooking open plains frequented by elephant, lion, wild dog, black rhino, and endemic species including Cookson’s wildebeest and Crawshay’s zebra. The experience focuses heavily on immersive walking safaris and expertly guided game drives, creating one of the most exclusive wilderness encounters in Southern Africa.

Transfers & Flights: Transfer from Time + Tide Kakuli to Mfuwe Airport (MFU), followed by scheduled bush flight to Mwaleshi Airstrip and onward transfer into Kutandala Camp.

Days 8 - 11

Kutali Camp | Lower Zambezi National Park (3 Nights)

River Safaris Along the Zambezi Frontier

The safari continues south into the Lower Zambezi, where the landscape transitions into riverfront wilderness shaped by the Zambezi River and its floodplain systems. Kutali Camp is an intimate tented safari camp positioned directly along the riverbank, combining classic bush simplicity with direct access to both land and water-based safari activities. The Lower Zambezi is known for large elephant herds, buffalo concentrations, predator activity, and prolific birdlife, all supported by low tourism density and exceptional guiding standards. Activities include canoe safaris, boat cruises, walking safaris, tiger fishing, and day and night game drives, creating a dynamic and varied safari experience within one of Zambia’s most scenic ecosystems.

Transfers & Flights: Transfer from Kutandala Camp to Mfuwe Airport (MFU), followed by scheduled flight to Jeki Airstrip (JEKI) and onward transfer into Kutali Camp within Lower Zambezi National Park.

Days 11 - 14

Shumba Camp | Kafue National Park (3 Nights)

Seasonal Floodplain Safari in the Busanga Plains

A bush flight via Lusaka connects you into the Busanga Plains sector of Kafue National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most diverse protected wilderness regions. Shumba Camp is positioned on a wooded island overlooking vast seasonal floodplains that support enormous concentrations of plains game and predators. Open only during the dry season months, the camp delivers one of Zambia’s most exclusive safari environments, with luxury safari tents elevated above the plains and uninterrupted views across the Busanga ecosystem. The area is especially known for lion, cheetah, red lechwe, wildebeest, buffalo, and the rare roan antelope, while seasonal boating and optional hot air balloon experiences further diversify the safari programme.

Transfers & Flights: Transfer from Kutali Camp to Jeki Airstrip (JEKI), followed by scheduled flight to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and onward bush flight to Busanga Airstrip, with final transfer into Shumba Camp.

Days 14 - 17

King Lewanika Lodge | Liuwa Plain National Park (3 Nights)

Exclusive Safari Experience on Zambia’s Western Frontier

The final chapter of the expedition moves west into the remote Liuwa Plain National Park, one of Africa’s last truly untouched wilderness regions. King Lewanika Lodge is positioned on the edge of the vast Liuwa floodplain ecosystem, delivering a highly exclusive safari experience centred around expansive open landscapes, seasonal migrations, and exceptional isolation. The lodge combines award-winning architecture with elevated tented accommodation overlooking the plains, creating a refined base for exploration of this remote frontier. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, night drives, canoe excursions, conservation experiences, and seasonal migration-focused activities. Liuwa is particularly known for its enormous wildebeest migration, hyena populations, and dramatic open-sky scenery rarely encountered elsewhere in Africa.
