Benguerra Island is another stunning destination in the Bazaruto Archipelago, located off the coast of Mozambique in the Indian Ocean. It is the second-largest island in the archipelago and, like Bazaruto Island, forms part of the Bazaruto National Park. Benguerra Island is famous for its unspoiled and remote landscapes, pristine beaches, and diverse marine life. Similar to Bazaruto Island, it offers a range of activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and sailing. The island’s coral reefs are teeming with colourful fish, making it a popular spot for underwater exploration. One of the unique attractions of Benguerra Island is its magnificent dune system, which extends along much of the island’s coastline. These sand dunes, some of which reach heights of up to 140 meters, provide breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding ocean and the island itself.
